Diary of a Beekeeper

Erin Shitama was lucky to get a sunny day in her warm Californian region and blogged a great little post about the preparation for spring.

To be honest – living in the UK its hard to even imagine spring – even when im lying t inside a sun bed   I think spring won’t be making an appearance anytime before April.. and so the local bees will be dormant for quite some time.

I have always known that Bees bring the flavour of their food (nectar) to the honey they create (although maybe i should add it to my large blog post:21 Things You Didn’t Know About Honey Bees – if I’m not careful lit will soon be a top 50 list!

I’m sure most of use have at least tried eucalyptus honey at one time or another. Erin – told us how she saw some of her Bees actually feeding from fava bean blossoms! It might just be me – but i can’t get the image of Hannibal lector out of my head when i think of Fava beans…
